Description
Holidays in another world : in the middle of nature, with solar power and candles, no roads around, and views of the Pyrenees.
Mater Dei is an ancient farm, 30 hectares of grassland, pine wood and prairie and in the middle - the old stone farmhouse is hiding.
All here is a little bit different, there is no dog to protect but guardians made of wood and coloured. There is no television but beautiful views of the Pyrenees, Les Montagnes Noirs (the Black Mountains) and, the Corbières, famous for it’s wine. There is no electricity out of the nuclear power plants but natural light, candles and in case - solar energy. The comfort is simple and nothing is perfect, nature and the silence are fantastic.
The part of the farmhouse for rent has : a large kitchen with a big table, but eating is mainly Alfresco; take in the food, the tranquillity and the views. On the same floor is a bathroom with shower and toilet. On the first floor there is room to sleep 2 people, and on the second floor, room to sleep 2 people.
Nevertheless Mater Dei is dreaming at the end of the world there is a very interesting countryside around: prehistoric sites as dolmens and menhirs; the middle ages in all variations, and Carcassonne and its Cité dating back to the 12th century. There are the Cathar castles at Montségur - and many, many others too. There are the mysteries about the Holy Grail and Rennes-le-Chateau. Also. the modern times, the new airbus is cruising from time to time over Mater Dei, Toulouse and Montpellier, both beautiful and culturally rich cities. We have the local markets. In summer the richness of the cultural comes to life with many local fetes; vide greniers. There are open air concerts, theatre, and who could forget the wine of the Languedoc-Roussillon and the very first champagne, Blanquette de Limoux. And last but not least the Mediterranean, an hour’s drive to Narbonne plage; the Pyrenees and Spain.
